Meet Our Board of Directors

Each Board Member for the Quad City Sports Initiative, Inc. (QCSI) was selected for several reasons including their passion for sports, their belief that youth sports are important and beneficial for the young person to become productive, responsible, and successful throughout their lives. In addition, all board members have varied backgrounds both personally and professionally. And lastly all board members are willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to ensure the QCSI achieves its mission.

Timothy (Tim) M Berchtold

President

Tim is retired from PepsiCo after 33+ years as a successful Sales Manager and People Manager. In his last position, for 10+ years, he was the Sr. National Sales Manager responsible for selling PepsiCo products to US Military worldwide.

In high school Tim participated in football and baseball. In college he played baseball for St Ambrose University where he graduated with a BS in Business Administration. Beginning while in college Tim was a 20+ years volunteer coach for Little League and PONY League Baseball. He also was a 9-year volunteer basketball coach for grade school and middle school age players.

Margaret (Meg) C Schebler

Vice President

Meg Schebler has accumulated a wealth of experience in athletics management over the last 25 years, including facilities management, personnel, staff development, and financial administration. A 2018 selection to the NAIA Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service, she serves as the Commissioner of the Continental Athletic Conference.

Prior to this role, she served as the Assistant Commissioner of the same conference and also as the Activities Director at Camanche High School. Meg was the Director of Athletics at Ashford University in Clinton, IA for 17 years before its closure in 2016. Throughout her tenure at Ashford, she was recognized as the MCC AD of the Year, NAIA Region VII AD of the Year, NACWAA Administrator of the Year, NACDA Under Armour AD of the Year and was an honoree for the Women’s Connection Athena Award in the Quad Cities Region.

A native of Davenport, Iowa, Meg attended Assumption High School and participated in Basketball and Softball. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master degree from Drake University. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends. Meg’s passion for sports and commitment to the core
values of character driven athletics brings her to Quad Cities Sports Initiative, Inc.

Melanie J Wilkins

Treasurer

Melanie has taught 27 years in the Davenport Community Schools at the middle school and elementary levels. She spent several years as the Athletic Director at JB Young Intermediate. She served on the board of the Bettendorf Youth Girls Basketball Association. While in high school, Melanie participated in volleyball, basketball and track. In college, she played basketball at the University of Northern Iowa.

Jacki (Bubby) L Mravinac

Secretary

Bubby was born and raised and lived her entire life in the Quad Cities. She has worked most of her life in an office environment until retirement ten years ago. Bubby played three sports in High School including golf, softball, and basketball. She continued to play softball until she got to old to run the bases without injury. Bubby’s love of children and sports and her desire to give back to the community makes her a perfect fit for Quad City Sports Initiative, Inc.

Wade Timothy (Tim) Harrington

Managing Director Northwestern Mutual

Tim joined Northwestern Mutual in the Quad Cities as the Growth and Development Director in 2021. After serving as the GDD for 9 months, he transitioned into the Managing Director role in the QCO. Prior to Northwestern Mutual, Tim lead another insurance agency for 7.5 years, while successfully managing a consulting business. Through these experiences, Tim has developed a strong passion for leadership and developing others. He is a speaker, coach, and consultant. Tim’s passion is people, and his fulfillment comes from bringing people together while encouraging and developing them to be the best version of themselves in and outside the office.

Originally from the Quad Cities, Tim grew up in Davenport, and currently lives in Eldridge with his family. Him and Lindsay have been married for 13 years and have 6 beautiful children. In his free time, Tim is frequently volunteering for youth sports. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching his kids compete athletically, and traveling.

Vernon A Wilmington

Vernon has been in management with UPS for nearly 20 years after graduating from St. Ambrose University with a B.A. in Marketing. He has had several roles within the Business Development function at UPS and is currently an Account Manager. As an Entrepreneur, Vernon owns a local shuttle and limo bus service in which he operates on the weekends.

Vernon has a strong passion for basketball and played locally in both high school and college. He played at Davenport North and at Marycrest University where he received the honor of being an Academic All American for his GPA. Vernon loves to volunteer in an effort to uplift his community as he coached a local AAU basketball team for 5 years and participated in the Davenport Community Schools Mentoring program for several years. When time
allows, Vernon enjoys spending time with family, socializing with friends, and playing chess.
